BSc in Computing Science - First Class Honours (Newcastle University, 1997).

English (fluent), Indonesian (mother tongue) and Spanish (beginner).

Wireless sensor network, ambient intelligence and mobile computing, dependability.

Open source/free software, distributed systems, human aspects in computer-based systems.

Current Work

I am preparing a project proposal as part of the Trustworthy Ambient Systems (TrAmS) platform grant. The focus of this proposal is on the investigation of the reliability of open source mobile operating system platforms (such as Android and Symbian). Another proposal I am working at the moment is on adapting Neighbourhood Watch schemes to the Internet age, with main interests in security, privacy and trust of socio-technical systems.

Future Research

I am also planning to carry out further research on mobile devices (smart dust or smart phones), in particular on how to combine mobility and trust into dependable collaborative platform where various devices in one location can work together to achieve the same (similar) goal. One area of application or case study is on disaster/emergency handling, recovery and management.
