Computer Game Engineering, MSc

Course Duration: 12 months full time

In collaboration with a number of high profile industrial leaders and computer game innovators, we have created an advanced programme of study to produce high profile graduates with the potential to become future leaders in the global computer games industry.

Newcastle expertise: Newcastle has a first class record of research related to the development of computer game technologies. The faculty members delivering this course have international reputations for their contributions to the fields of online gaming, graphics and simulation, artificial intelligence, programming and human computer interaction.

Scholarship opportunity: A number of UK based scholarships have been awarded to this programme to ease the financial burden of home students wishing to study for this MSc. 

Why do an MSc in Computer Game Engineering at Newcastle?

The MSc in Game Engineering is one of the first of its kind in the United Kingdom. The programme is intended to prepare graduates to pursue careers in industry, as software architects and project managers, to establish their own consulting or software development companies, or to undertake basic research in the field.

Course Structure

The first nine months of the programme are devoted to lectures totalling about 20 hours per week, which are examined by written papers. You will also undertake a substantial amount of supervised and unsupervised practical work.

The final three months are devoted to an individual project. An important part of the MSc is the preparation of a dissertation describing the project. You will also be required to give a demonstration of your project where you will be questioned on your dissertation.
