These are the largest of the University residences, situated within walking distance of the main University precinct. Their proximity to the Medical School makes Castle Leazes Halls an attractive venue for conferences.
The halls can accommodate over 1,000 delegates. Castle Leazes Halls comprise of three inter connecting halls each accommodating 350 delegates. Each hall has five residential houses and includes its own dining room. Social facilities on the site include a fully licensed bar, tv rooms, games room, snooker rooms, shop and launderette.
There are 1,000 single study bedrooms all with wash hand basin and shared shower and bathroom facilities. En suite flats are available, some of which have their own kitchen.
In addition one flat and eight of these rooms are specially fitted for guests with disabilities.
During the summer of 2001 one block of bedrooms was refurbished and converted to ensuite facilities. this block, Berwick House, now has forty single ensuite rooms, arranged 10 rooms to a floor, sharing kitchen and living areas. Each living area includes an LCD TV.
All bedrooms are double-glazed with thermostatically controlled central heating and are furnished to a high standard. Complimentary tea and coffee is provided in each bedroom.

2009 saw the opening of Castle Court a purpose built accommodation block on the Castle Leazes site. This provides 98 en-suite bedrooms, arranged in flats of 7, sharing high quality living/kitchen areas and including fully accessible rooms. View more information on Castle Court.
