You can find out additional information about our Congregations below.
We offer every candidate two guest tickets free of charge. There are sometimes extra guest tickets available. This depends on how many students book a place at their ceremony. Extra guest tickets are released online a few months before the ceremony. We alert students to the release date via email. Extra tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Most extra tickets are for the live screening (a room upstairs in the Armstrong Building). The ceremony is shown on a large screen.
Live screening tickets cost £10 each. Extra King's Hall tickets (which are usually in short supply) cost £15 each.
Everyone with a ticket can go to the reception afterwards.
If parents and guests have questions about ticket allocations, please speak to your candidate. Unfortunately, we're not allowed to give out this information to anyone but the candidate.
Tickets will be available for the candidate to collect from the King's Road Centre on the day of their ceremony. The candidate needs to bring photo ID to pick up the tickets.
After each ceremony, there is a reception with refreshments. Everyone with a ceremony ticket can go to the reception. Most receptions are centrally organised by the University and take place directly after the ceremony. Some Schools make their own reception arrangements, and they contact candidates about these separately.
Details of the reception venue and the start time will be on your ticket.
Our official university photographers, Ede and Ravenscroft, will be on campus for the whole Congregations period.
They will be welcoming candidates and their guests into their photography studios located in the Students' Union Building between 08.00 to 19.30 every day during the Congregations. Photographs ordered will be posted out within four to six weeks of the ceremony.
Where possible, a photograph will also be taken of each candidate on stage during their ceremony. You can buy this photo on the day of the ceremony.
Additional needsAdditional needs
Candidates should inform us of any specific access requirements for themselves or their guests. There is a place on the Congregations application form for them to do this.
If the candidate did not include this information on their application form, you can contact the Congregations Team.
We will be in touch with the candidate to confirm arrangements near the time of the ceremony.
Children are welcome to attend the graduation ceremonies. They must be under the direct supervision of an adult guest.
The adult guest should remove them from the venue if they become restless, so as not to disrupt proceedings.
Children over the age of 5 will need their own ticket. Children under 5 won't need a ticket if they sit on the knee of an adult guest.
