University Staff

Congregations are an important day for students and their families. To ensure that each ceremony runs smoothly, it is essential that as many colleagues as possible kindly offer their valuable assistance and support.

There are two ways that staff can get involved:

  • Academic Procession - members of academic staff can take part in the Procession. Staff are encouraged to participate at those ceremonies where students they have taught or supervised will be presented. Registrations for the July 2012 Congregations are now open, please complete the on-line form.
  • Marshals - support staff can volunteer to marshal at the ceremonies. This involves a variety of roles from issuing tickets to graduates and welcoming guests to hooding the graduates before they cross the dais. Refreshments will be available to marshals throughout the duration of the ceremonies, and meal vouchers are given as a thank-you for volunteering. The marshal availability form for the July Congregations is now available On-Line form.

Dates for upcoming ceremonies can be found in our ceremonies timetable.
