CRE welcomes Dr Gulbanu Kaptan who joined the CRE as a Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellow

This fellowship gives European researchers the opportunity to be trained and acquire new knowledge in a third country, at a high-level research organization and subsequently return this experience to a research organization in the EU.

Gulbanu worked in the Department of Social and Decision Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University (the USA) under the supervision of Baruch Fischhoff between 2009 and 2011.

From 25th October 2011, she has been working at CRE under the supervision of Lynn Frewer to complete the European phase of her fellowship. Her project is entitled “Contamination of food with biological agents: An integrated risk analysis and risk communication approach.”  The purpose of the project is to combine and use the expertise of natural and social science experts to communicate with consumers about the risks of food contamination and the things that they can do to control these risks.

Gulbanu has a BS and an MS in Food Engineering and a PhD in Management awarded by Bilkent University in 2008. Her PhD thesis was a cross-cultural study between Turkey and Israel that offers a theoretical analysis of the social value foundations of risk decisions.
