This project provided support to the Commission for Rural Communities in developing the evidence base for the inquiry into the future for England’s upland communities. In particular, it assisted the CRC in drawing together the lines of evidence from commissioned papers, seminars and statistical analysis. It involved the production of two reports. The first analysed the structure, dynamics and diversity of upland communities and identified drivers of change. The second reviewed and critically evaluated existing strategies, plans, charters and ‘visions’ for the English uplands.
