Project overview

My research is focused on the implementation of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in the rural area of Ecuador, specifically, in the Andean highlands region. I am in a very early stage, since I recently submitted my project proposal.

The aim of the research is to establish the contributions of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in the development of the rural area in the Andean Highlands Region of Ecuador, for this I will be using data from government's sources as well as other available data online. Fieldwork will take place later on and will allow me to gather valuable information from beneficiaries in some selected indigenous communities.

By the end of my research I will be able to provide theoretical insights into the ways in which the SSE in Ecuador, relates to the debate on alternative rural development approaches, also I am expecting to contribute to the comparative analysis of the new social enterprises in rural areas in the Andean highlands region of Ecuador since the establishment of the SSE and finally I will determine to what extent the “good living” model is promoting a new way of policy making participation among the indigenous population in the rural area of Ecuador.
