16/11/09 Journal no 9iii has now been published. It contains articles on Innocence, L'Esquive and Entre les murs, Histoire(s) du cinéma, on contemporary independent French cinema, on film sound in Maghrebi-French film, and on music and non-lieux in two contemporary French films. Contents and abstracts are now available.

4/08/09 The Call for Papers for the tenth SFC Conference is now available. This special two-day anniversary conference will take place in Paris on 26/27 March 2010. Deadline for proposals is 30 September 2009. Contributions are welcome in either French or English.

4/08/09 Journal no 9ii has now been published. It contains articles on L'Atalante, Sous les toits de Paris, La Ronde, Rohmer, Les Glaneurs et la glaneuse and Jacques Nolot. Contents and abstracts are available.

22/03/09 The Editorial Board is delighted to announce the launch of the SFC - Intellect Press Prize for the best published article in Studies in French Cinema from a PhD candidate.

14/03/09 The lists of recent books and theses on French Cinema have now been updated and are available from the download area.

14/03/09 Journal no 9i has now been published. It contains articles on Ducastel and Martineau, Notre musique, Ma nuit chez Maud, and several on 1930s cinema: Marthe Richard, Maurice Jaubert and Marcel Pagnol.

04/05/08 Our list of books on French cinema has been updated to May 2008. We have split the list into books published since 2007, and an archived list of books published 1998-2006 inclusive.

22/02/08 The winner of the 2007-2008 SFC-MUP Postgraduate Prize for best essay on French cinema has been won by Tomas Williams (Exeter) for 'Les Yeux sans visage: The Masked Woman and the National Body'.

Welcome to the Association for Studies in French Cinema (SFC)

The Association was established in 2000 by Professor Susan Hayward (University of Exeter, UK), and Professor Phil Powrie (University of Sheffield, UK).

Journal. Studies in French Cinema was established by Professor Susan Hayward. It is the only journal internationally devoted exclusively to French cinema. The journal is peer-reviewed and has three numbers a year.
