You will play a role in contributing to, and supporting research, in a multidisciplinary synthetic biology project concerned with the engineering of metabolic pathways for a variety of applications. In particular, you will research, develop and implement high performance computing strategies for metabolic models for various important organisms, e.g., E. coli, P. aeruginosa, B. subtilis, etc and use the models to predict genetic strategies for attaining a target phenotype.

You will have an undergraduate degree in biological, chemical or computational sciences or engineering and experience in metabolic modelling including metabolic flux modelling, constraint based modelling, etc. A PhD in synthetic biology or related area is desirable. Good communication skills, and very strong computational modelling and programming skills are essential. You will also have a good appreciation of biochemical pathways, biological modelling and good knowledge of bacterial biochemistry.
