Culture Lab Film Night

Last Thursday of the month

The focus of the evening will always be the screening of an interesting and entertaining film. However, everyone is welcome to stay after the curtains drop and the lights come back on for for conversation, discussion and debate ...

Each month, an 'evening curator' (who gets to choose the film!) briefly presents an accompanying idea or theory in a short, informal introduction, using clips, extracts, documentary footage or a relevant short film.

After the film, viewers are invited to stay for discussion, led by the evening curator, to dissect and argue about the film and brainstorm ideas about its possible meaning and/or relevance to the world. Though the evening is intended to be informal, accessible and fun it is also intended to nurture interdisciplinary debate and provide a forum for members of Newcastle University and the wider community to talk about, think about and share ideas about film.
