Culture Lab Newcastle
Friday the 13th Interaction Concert!
Please join us for a Friday the 13th concert of sensor instruments, joystick controllers, surround sound, and improvising musical chairs.
Time/Date: 13th June 2008, 18:00 - 20:00
The concert highlights Robert van Heumen's residency at Culture Lab.
Robert is a composer and musician and is currently the managing director of the Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music (STEIM) in Amsterdam.
He will perform excerpts from his new joystick surround sound work, Vreemdeling. Vreemdeling (Dutch for alien or stranger) is inspired by Albert Camus' The Stranger and Philip K. Dick's Do androids dream of electric sheep, and L.E.J. Brouwer.
Also performing will be Atau Tanaka, playing the BioMuse, a bioelectrical musical instrument where muscle gesture articulates sound.
There will be improvisations from Paul Bell, John Ferguson, James Mooney, Adam Parkinson, Will Scrimshaw and Nick Williams.
