Lunch Bites with Atau Tanaka

Location: Space 7, Culture Lab
Time/Date: 1st October 2009, 12:00 - 13:00

Lunch Bites is a series of hour-long lunchtime conversations hosted in Space 7, Culture Lab featuring local and visiting thinkers and creators.

The topics are varied and various - anything our guest is currently thinking, creating or thinking of creating. Lunch Bites are part dialog, part skill-share, part knowledge - exchange and all for fun. No preparation, stress or pressure of any kind is implied or involved - we strive simply for an opportunity to facilitate casual meet-ups between the interesting and the interested.

To kick off the new academic year, Acting Director Atau Tanaka will give the first Lunch Bites sessionThis session will also serve to launch a new digital media module on Creative Web and Interactive Narrative, delivered by Stevie Ronnie.

Atau will give a snapshot at the recent Picnic09 festival in Amsterdam, where he presented how interactive systems - sensors, sound/ image systems, GPS data can be used to create abstract narrative forms. His work as a musical composer informs interaction, where narrative becomes less about storytelling, and more about creating an immersive experience. Examples will include recent collaborations with the artist group NAME for the Great North Run Cultural Programme, and commercial mobile audio guides for Soundwalk

Lunch Bites are held the 1st Thursday of every month at 12 noon - come along with a sandwich and an open mind.
