CURDS PhD Student celebrates the successful impact of her research

The Scottish Government announce the creation of a Scottish National Investment Bank (SNIB)

The CURDS PhD student Gemma Bone Dodds is celebrating the successful impact of her research after the Scottish Government announced the creation of a Scottish National Investment Bank (SNIB). Gemma’s report ‘Banking for the Common Good’, the result of a placement with Friends of the Earth Scotland was published in 2016 alongside Common Weal, the New Economics Foundation and Move Your Money. It was presented in Holyrood and Westminster, and to the Scottish Council of Economic Advisors alongside a follow on report ‘Blueprint for a Scottish National Investment Bank’ by Laurie McFarlane who have since recommended the creation of the SNIB which it is hoped can provide long-term patient capital for a transition to a low-carbon economy in Scotland. More details available on the Friends of the Earth Scotland Website and the Scottish Government Website
