Professor John Tomaney has recently delivered a series of keynote presentations and policy briefings to federal and state level government ministries, as part of ongoing discussion on the future of regional policy in Australia.
Prof. Tomaney addressed the Regional Policy Advisory Committee of the State of Victoria and briefed the state’s Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional Development in Melbourne.
In addition he was the keynote speaker at a seminar organised by the Australian Business Foundation in Sydney and briefed the chair of the Federal government’s Regional Policy Advisory Committee and state officials in New South Wales.
Finally, he was a keynote speaker at the annual conference of the Australia/New Zealand Regional Science Association International in Canberra, where he also briefed federal officials.
Professor Tomaney also contributed to academic seminars at Monash University, Melbourne and to the Symposium on Antipodean Economic Geographies at the State Library of New South Wales, Sydney – the latter co-organised by a former CURDS postgraduate Felicity Wray, now at the University of Western Sydney.
