photograph CURDS deliver ESRC seminars on economic development in UK and China

Both in China and the UK, policy-makers are seeking to develop new ways of understanding the role of spatial inequalities in the process of economic growth and to develop appropriate public policies.  To help forge international collaborations and knowledge exchange around these challenges, CURDS recently organised an ESRC-funded programme of events in both China and the UK. In China the events involved the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China Beihang University in Beijing and Jiaotong University in Shanghai. While in the UK the seminars were hosted by Newcastle University and the Smith Institute in London. The seminars involved researchers working closely with their respective governments including the China State Council and NDRC, provincial and prefectural levels governments in China and HM Treasury, Department of Business Innovation and Skills and Department of Communities and Local Government, local authorities, and LEPs in the UK.
