Over a long period CURDS' work has emphasised the importance of endogenous forms of local and regional development that are founded of the development of embedded assets such as technologies and skills.
Recently this work has connected at the European level with debates about "smart specialisation". Sponsors of this work have included the OECD, European Commission and national, regional and local governments.
