Definition of housing market areas in County Durham

The central purpose of the project is to provide advice on the definition of the spatial extent within County Durham of Housing Market Areas (HMAs). The context for the research is the need for a Housing Market Assessment and this, in turn, requires that HMAs boundaries are defined. The subsequent Assessment will consider the supply of, and demand for, housing of different types within the HMAs. This usage of the HMAs reinforces the need for the definitions to represent markets within which the migration patterns reflect actual transactions or exchanges through which there is a matching of households/people to dwellings.
