As a publically-funded facility, we think it’s important that you know what we stand for and what we aim to achieve.
The broad mission of Newcastle University is spelled out in ‘Vision 2021 - A world-class civic university’ and we are fully signed-up to that mission.
We believe that Newcastle School of Dental Sciences should be a world leader in academic oral health, looking forwards and outwards in everything we do, ensuring our relevance to the population, and acting as a focal point for dentistry and oral health in the region.
Here are some of our key aims in areas central to our daily activity:
To undertake world class research, relevant to oral and general health.
To deliver courses that meet the agreed specification of our regulatory bodies (in the case of the undergraduate dental degree, this is the General Dental Council) and provide our students with an outstanding experience and opportunity for learning.
To utilise our assets, including the research skills, knowledge, teaching, presentational and clinical skills of our staff and students to benefit society and specifically its health, and to develop emerging commercial opportunities in our areas of expertise.
To build Newcastle School of Dental Sciences into a global brand, recognised for the quality and relevance of its provision.
To manage the School in a sustainable manner.
