Polysaccharides are large molecules comprising lots of sugar residues linked together by glycosidic bonds. Glycosidic bond is the name given to a covalent bond linking two sugars. |
Examples of polysaccharides include starch, cellulose and glucans. The chains of sugar residues may be linear or they may contain branches. See also oligosaccharides |
