NB: Notice that the bands are orientated. The 'hook' is gingival and distal. Also that the bands have a number of tubes into which wires can be placed. In the case of these bands the archwire goes into the most occlusal tube on the lower and the gingival tune on the upper (arrowed)

3. Get a member of staff to check band size and position
4. Remove bands using band removing pliers, dry and layout ready for cementing

5. Mix glass ionomer and place into band from gingival edge (this
is so, that as the band is seated, that excess cement is pushed occlusally and
reduces the likelihood of voids under the band)
NB: Be careful NOT to get cement into the tubes. You can put wax into the tubes
before placing cement.
