The School is well-resourced with a strong and approachable staff, located in one of the most spacious and well equipped dental training facilities in the country.
Teaching staff include top-level scientists, University and NHS-based clinical academics and experienced clinicians from general practice – a synergistic blend of individuals to enrich the learning environment.
Our teaching is underpinned by scientific evidence and our clinical teachers are active clinicians, holding combined University and NHS appointments. The quality of our teaching is a top priority, and the school boasts:
The School is housed in the same buildings as the Dental Hospital and, together with the adjacent Medical School and Royal Victoria Infirmary teaching hospital, forms one of the largest integrated teaching and hospital complexes in the country.
Our clinical skills training facility and our clinical areas are refurbished and updated on a regular basis and are equipped to the highest standard, including more than 25 dental operating microscopes for staff and student use.
A huge asset at the disposal of our teachers and tutors is the Newcastle eportfolio, in which we keep a record of performance, encourage confidential reflection, and formulate action plans. The Newcastle eportfolio has been externally recognized as an example of exemplary innovation in student support.
