Intercalated Degrees

Our dental students have the opportunity to enrich their personal and professional development further by pursuing a science-based intercalated degree.

Interested students are encouraged to take a year out from their dental training;

Intercalation at the end of Stage 2 allows students to integrate into the final year of a relevant Biomedical Science BSc course. In addition to providing a strong grounding in the biomedical sciences, these degree programmes also offer extensive ‘hands-on’ experience in the form of practical classes and an 8-week research project.

The MRes involves a substantial research project (usually carried out within the School of Dental Sciences) coupled with a choice of taught modules in a broad range of biomedical sciences.

Intercalation provides a broad perspective on research in the healthcare professions and would particularly suit those who are interested in pursuing a career in academic Dentistry.
