We offer many services through our engagement arm of the Cloud Innovation Centre.

Meeting

We have worked closely and productively with industry for over 15 years. This has taken a number of forms, ranging from industry-funded collaborative research, through industry sponsorship of PhD students through to joint bids to funding bodies such as Innovate UK. We are always keen to start new relationships though informal discussions.

Funding

We actively seek funding for projects and have previously received funding from many organisations including:

  • Research Councils UK (RCUK)
  • Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)
  • Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)
  • Wellcome Trust
  • EU FP7
  • InnovateUK

Grant writing

If you are from a non-technical discipline we can to help you to formulate and write the technical plan for grant proposals. Often we're able to extend the scope of the project by suggesting technologies or techniques that will help.

Hosted software

We're able to provide hosted and supported versions of e-Science Central and other software for you to use within your project.

Architecture design session

We offer architecture design sessions to provide technical advice on specific topics that organisations would like to explore. These whiteboard-led sessions can be used to:

  • learn about new technologies suitable for your organisation
  • validate existing approaches
  • brainstorm current pain points

Each session lasts approximately two hours and is designed around the needs of your organisation.

Consultancy

We are provide consultancy services to a wide variety of technical areas, including:

  • cloud computing
  • 'big data'
  • machine learning

Access to public and private cloud

The Cloud Innovation Centre has access to both public and private cloud infrastructure. We can arrange access to these for your project if it is suitable.

Access to contacts

Members of the Digital Institute have contacts across the University and region. If we're unable to help directly we can suggest suitable people or organisations and provide an introduction.
