Chair of Diversity Consultative Group - Advert and Further information
We have a great opportunity for a member of University staff to contribute to the University's work on Diversity matters. As well as being the Chair of the Diversity Consultative Group, the role is also a member of the Diversity Committee. Members of the Diversity Consultative Group are made up of staff and students and have a track record of both celebrating and challenging what happens here and in the local community.
Chair of the DCG has been a rewarding duty during my tenure. The group is responsible for discussing diversity and equality related issues affecting the campus and also reports on activity relating to those supportive groups and communities such as Disabled Employees Network, Mosaic, Students’ Union, Estates Disability Group and the Chaplaincy. It is also there to help raise the profile and visibility of diversity across the University, working together to support the institution's aims and objectives.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with a vibrant bunch of characters and feeding responses to policy back to the University's Diversity Committee. We have helped shaped thinking about provision of support for women's careers, the development of the University's first LGBT group and greater understanding about the needs of disabled students and staff from an estates perspective. Working together, you will be able to make a big difference.
