Age

Information

The Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 prohibit direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, harassment and victimisation. The regulations include all staff and those taking part in or applying for employment-related training including higher education courses.

One of the aims of the age legislation is a desire to bring about long term culture change and to challenge stereotyping on age grounds. Ageism is deeply embedded in society and often unconscious, and age is inextricably bound up with numerous institutional structures and systems, including the education system.
