Think Tank on Gender Balance in Academic Careers

In October 2008, the Vice-Chancellor hosted a Think Tank on Gender Balance in Academic Careers which examined the measures we have in place to support the academic careers of women alongside their effectiveness. The outcome was an Action Plan which is to be completed by December 2009.

One of the actions from the Think Tank was to become a member of the Athena SWAN Charter. Newcastle was granted membership in January 2009 and in September 2009 we were awarded the Bronze Award.
