Education

A range of courses - linked to your career phase and professional interests

Within ECLS, Education courses are delivered at postgraduate level, with a range of taught and research programmes. We are committed to developing the potential for all teachers by providing opportunities that can be truly contextualised within the work-place and career phase. We encourage teachers on our courses to be informed by and focused on their own professional interests.

Teacher Training skipping

For teachers at the beginning of their career we offer Initial Teacher Training courses at Primary and Secondary level (PGCE) which lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). On successful completion of the PGCE, trainees at Newcastle have the option to progress directly onto our M.Ed Practitioner Enquiry programme.

The School of ECLS has also recently launched a new professional development research programme in Applied Educational Psychology, DAppEdPsy.

Professional Development Courses

Teachers at every level of their profession, from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) to experienced teachers and school leaders welcome the opportunity to enquire into their own teaching and context. We offer the following courses for professional development:

Postgraduate Professional Development Modules

We offer modules that enable participants to develop their capacity to continue learning beyond the duration and scope of the course, thus increasing their abilities to play significant and informed roles in the development of schools and the wider educational agenda. Our Postgraduate Professional Development (PPD) Programme offers a range of opportunities to help you develop and broaden your career prospects.

Research Programmes
