Therapy Sessions at the Aphasia Clinic

Group Therapy Sessions at the Newcastle Aphasia Clinic

Clients attend the centre for four sessions during each week, and are involved in both individual and group therapy. They all experience difficulties communicating, but these are wide ranging. The types of communication difficulties include:

  • problems finding the words or putting sentences together when trying to speak
  • difficulties understanding other people's speech
  • difficulties reading and problems with writing.

Clients need to be at least three months, post-onset on initial assessment, but there is no upper ceiling as long as clients are motivated and their language shows the potential for change.

Referral to the Aphasia Centre is via the client's current Speech and Language Therapist.
