Awards for International Students

Newcastle University International Postgraduate Scholarships (NUIPS)

You could be eligible to apply for a NUIPS award if:

  • you have been offered a place on any postgraduate taught degree programme.
  • you have been assessed as international/overseas for fees purposes
  • you hold a first class honours degree and IELTS 7.0. Applicants holding an upper second (2:1) equivalent degree and IELTS 7.0 will be considered on a competitive basis by the closing date for applications. Applicants who do not hold a first class or upper second class honours degree at the time of their scholarship application will be considered for NUIPS awards conditional upon their final degree grade.
  • you intend to register to start your studies during the 2012-13 academic year.

Applications for a NUIPS award cannot be made for a course that has already been started by a student.

Alumni discount - International students may also be eligible for a 20% reduction in postgraduate tuition fees if they are an alumnus of the University.

International Family Discounts (IFD) - Relatives of our current international students or of past international graduates may be eligible for a 10% discount.

Awards for UK/EU Students

The North East Doctoral Training Centre (NEDTC) funds ESRC students across a wide range of subject areas in the social sciences.

Alumni discount - If UK/EU students are an alumnus of the University, they may also be eligible for a 20% reduction in postgraduate tuition fees.

Awards for new and existing International and UK/EU PGR Doctoral Students

ECLS PGR Bursary

This is an application form for the ECLS PGR Bursary, which is open to all new and continuing PGR students not in their writing up stage. . The committee holds two rounds per year in May and October to support September and January starters. Applications are reviewed by the PGR Committee and you will hear from the PGR Secretary directly after the Committee whether you have been successful.
