Initial Teacher Training
ECLS has for a long time offered an established route to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), for those seeking a one year full-time course leading to a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). We offer two taught-age specific courses:
- Primary PGCE teaching pupils 5 to 11 years of age
- Secondary PGCE teaching pupils 11 to 18 years of age.
Course structure
The PGCE course and the first year of the MEd QTS are the same in structure and content. You will register for the PGCE and undertake masters level modules throughout your year in training. At the end of the year, if you have successfully passed all components, you can either:
- graduate with the PGCE QTS
- or carry on to year 2 of the MEd part-time, whilst in your first teaching year. In order to attain the MEd you will need to acquire 180 credits over the three years.
