Duration: PGCE with QTS: 10 months full time
The primary PGCE course is the first year of the University of Newcastle’s MEd Practitioner Enquiry. This one year course allows you to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and either exit with a PGCE or attain 60 credits towards an MEd.
We are committed to teaching as a highly skilled profession. Therefore, as well as developing the skills required to teach proficiently, the course also places an emphasis upon the development of extended professional capacities such as critical thinking, educational research capacity and debating skills.
Central to the course, and of prime importance, is a consideration of the educational and intellectual needs of children in relation to their physical, psychological, cultural , and social development. An understanding of the diversity of pupils' needs is central to this work.
