Staff and Students

The rich variety in the overall make-up of our School is mirrored each year in the range of backgrounds of our PGCE students. Typically cohorts contain:

  • members with industrial or commercial experience making a change of career
  • mature students coming to teach after taking a career break
  • students with academic research experience at PhD level and beyond
  • recent graduates from colleges and universities throughout the UK

Enormous benefit is gained by all students from working in these mixed tutorial groups and the sharing of different perspectives which can be brought to bear on the teaching/learning process.

The Primary PGCE Core Team:

Teaching is further strengthened by the involvement of experienced local teachers in a range of lectures, seminars and workshops as well as in support and guidance provided during teaching practice and the school-based elements of the course.
