This project aimed to establish whether standard speech assessments such as those conducted in a community study of voice, speech, and swallowing problems in PD were able to separate out people with PD from healthy speakers matched for age, gender, and post code. Our research focussed on voice characteristics and the articulation of vowels.

Our results showed that
„Xstandard speech assessments can provide suitable data to aid the early diagnosis of PD
„Xanalysis benchmarks need to take into account a person¡¦s age and gender
„Xstandard speech assessments allow clustering of speakers into clinically relevant groups
