Author(s): Jones H

Abstract: This paper is a summary of the findings of this study until january 2004. 17 Community of Enquiry sessions, carried out with a group of 19 5-7 year old children, were recirded transcribed. All responses were categorised as either reproductive, tangential, original or reasoning. The responses were then analysed. One of the main findings of the study was that the average percentage of reproductive responses in the seond half of the enquiries dropped, whereas the average percentage ofreasoning responses rose in that period. A significant correlation was found between disagreement and reasoning.
