Professor Alan Jack named one of the UK’s pioneers.
Newcastle University’s Professor Alan Jack has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Dubbed by the Academy as one ‘of the country’s most visionary academics’, the Professor of Electrical Engineering is head of the University’s Power Electronics, Drives and Machines Research Group and has been recognised for his pioneering work into high speed drives.
Academy President Lord Browne of Madingley said: ‘Our new Fellows are among the very best engineers working in the UK today.
'They are pushing the technical boundaries across the most challenging fields from medical imaging to aeronautics and energy technology.
‘Together they demonstrate that engineering is at the heart of modern society.’
Ian Shott, lay member of Council and company director of Excelsyn, was also elected a Fellow.
