Project:

Construction of new algebraic-geometric and LDPC codes suitable for future data storage devices

From April 2006 to March 2009
Project Leader(s): Prof. R. Carrasco, Dr S.S. Dlay
Contact: r.carrasco@ncl.ac.uk
Sponsors: EPSRC (EP/D058813)

The main objectives of this proposal is to design and construct new codes with low decoding complexity and good performance for magnetic and optical storage channels. Research has been previously carried out for several years in the area of channel coding by the Prof. R. A. Carrasco. The co-investigator of this project is Dr. S. S. Dlay who will investigate the feasibility of hardware implementation of Algebraic-geometric and LDPC encoding and decoding processes.
