EEE Poster - Re-engineering the eye

Description
The human eye is a complex biological computing platform, with over 60 different types of processing and communication neurons. It is not simply a camera, but the first stage in a system to understand the visual world. Dr Terrence Mak is taking inspiration from the eye to develop new types of electronic circuitry. Dr Patrick Degenaar is using a mixture of genetic and optoelectronic technologies to develop a new type of retinal prosthesis to bring sight back to the blind.
