Newcastle University's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), based in North East England is one of the premier institutes in the country.
EEE has an Industrial Advisory Board that meets twice per year to get input on our curriculum, teaching/assessment methods and research strategy.
As well as offering excellent teaching and research we also provide services for industry, for both small and large organisations alike.
The School is continually investing in new research facilities, to maintain and build upon its research strengths and to meet the needs of industry. Over £16 million has been invested in projects developing new, leading-edge research facilities including:
The School has four research groups whose key areas of research are summarised below:
Communications, Sensors and Signal Processing - including theoretical and applied signal processing research for digital communications, underwater acoustic communications, image processing, speech processing, and biomedical applications.
Electrical Power - including motor design, novel electromagnetic devices, power semiconductor devices and circuits, advanced control strategies research and smart grid technologies.
Emerging Technologies and Materials (formerly Nano Materials and Electronics) - including ferroelectrics, graphene, silicon carbide, diamond and functional nanostructures for sensors, electronics and photovoltaics, and underpinning multi-scale modelling.
µSystems (formerly Microelectronic System Design) - including asynchronous systems design, visualisation, synthesis and test. Metastability characterisation and time measurement. Neuro-silicon interfaces.
EEE offers much more than the traditional vision of an academic department, it exists to develop and transfer electrical, electronic and computer engineering technology to industry. These are just some of the ways in which we can help:
For any enquiries regarding work that EEE may be able do for you personally or for your business, please do not hesitate to contact the SAgE Faculty Enterprise Team.
