Electrical Power Research Group

The Electrical Power Research Group (formerly Power Electronics, Drives and Machines (PEDM)) at Newcastle University is one of the largest and most successful specialist Research Group of its kind in the UK.

The Group currently consists of 10 Academics, 26 Research Associates, 2 KTP Associates, 2 Emeritus Professors, 1 Technician and 1 Administrator. As well as the UK staff, Electrical Power also has an international presence with 6 Academics based at the Newcastle University campus in Singapore.

The Electrical Power Research Group specialise in ground-breaking research, the application of which is used in transport, renewable energy, power networks and low cost manufacturing.

The Electrical Power Research Group has a successful record in attracting over £9M research funding from industry, EPSRC, TSB and the European Commission since the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008).
