Project:

The main objective of the LOTUS project is to develop a method of communicating with a number of monitoring instruments deployed in a wide area of sea or ocean, where range is much greater than water depth. The instruemtns could be either stationary on the sea-bed or drifting. The network will use acoustic communications. Innovation in signal processing and transducer technology, coupled with packet store-and-forward methods, will result in greater range, data rate and reliability.
