Our school has a truly international flavour with students from 45 different countries studying here. The University has an even more diverse population. We believe that mixing with people from different cultures and backgrounds helps to improve the educational experience.
We have students from many European countries. A number of students also come to Newcastle from Asia, including Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China, as well as from South Africa and North and South America. We have extensive knowledge of European and Asian entry qualifications and can give you advice with regard to your application.
The map below shows where our current students are from.
A wide range of international student societies at the University enables you to meet students of your own and many other nationalities. The Language Centre provides testing for all students who have English as a second language and can provide English Language courses tailored to suit your needs. The University ensures that international students are fully integrated into life at Newcastle, commencing with an international orientation programme at the start of your academic studies, and progressing to alumni activities throughout the world after graduation.
We seek to ensure that all of our students graduate with an awareness of the opportunities open to them, not only in Europe but throughout the world. The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, like many other Schools in the University, runs an active student exchange programme in partnership with institutions throughout Europe as part of the European Union's Erasmus programme.
