Jackie Kay wins Decibel Award in National Book Awards

Jackie Kay, a Professor of creative writing at Newcastle University, has won the Decibel Writer of the Year Award, in the National Book Awards for her collection of short stories, Wish I Was Here.

Poet in the School, Professor Sean O'Brien, wins award.

Sean O'Brien won the £1,000 prize for best single poem for Fantasia on a Theme of James Wright, which the judges called "as close as it is possible to come to a perfect poem".
