Brian Alderson curates exhibition and gives Looking at Children's Books talk
Children’s books expert Brian Alderson will be curating a new exhibition at the Robinson Library and giving a free Looking at Children’s Books talk this summer.
Wednesday 14th June, 5.30pm, Philip Robinson Library: Every book has its own history: reflections of a collector of children’s books
Brian Alderson will talk about some of the less usual children’s books and manuscripts in his collection, relating many of them to his career as a writer, translator and editor. This free talk is part of the Looking at Children’s Books series, a fascinating sequence of talks with Brian Alderson, a pioneer of children’s literature studies in Britain.
The talk accompanies a free exhibition at the Philip Robinson Library which Brian has curated, A Lilliputian Miscellany, where items from his collection will be on display. The exhibition will be run throughout Summer 2017, is free to attend and open to all.
The exhibition and talk are presented by Newcastle University’s Children’s Literature Unit and Philip Robinson Library in association with Seven Stories: National Centre for Children’s Books.
