Bill Herbert has published five collections with Bloodaxe, for which he has received three Scottish Arts Council awards and has been shortlisted for a number of prizes including the T.S.Eliot, the Forward, and the Saltire. In 2000 he edited Strong Words: modern poets on modern poetry, with Matthew Hollis. He has held residencies in Scotland, the North East and Cumbria, and he is the lead poet with the Westpark public art project in Darlington. His latest book Bad Shaman Blues, is a Poetry Book Society Recommendation.
