SELLL graduate Shantelle Million wins Duke of York's Award!

Congratulations to Shantelle who was awarded the Young Entrepreneur Award at a ceremony at Huddersfield University in April 2017.

Shantelle has been in touch to say 'Without my degree none of this would have been possible - thank you all.'

Shantelle won the award after starting her own business Micareplan with the support of Newcastle University's scholarship programme 'Founderships'. She graduated with a degree in English Language in 2016, and is now on the SELLL Alumni Advisory Board, which includes helping out at the annual Employability Challenge for Stage 2 students.

Founderships offer graduates support to fast-track their business ideas.  Shantelle is one of 7 graduates starting new business ventures in 2016/17 under the scheme, which aims to support students ensuring their ventures start, survive and grow. Founders are supported with office space, business coaching, training, investment and network introductions.

Shantelle's Micareplan business is currently developing an electronic software system to be used in residential care settings to record daily reports, care preferences and other detailed information about how a person’s needs can best be met by those caring for them.

SELLL wishes Shantelle the very best of luck with her business venture.
