The Royal Shakespeare Company

We collaborate regularly with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). We work closely with its practitioners to develop educational projects and theatre workshops for our students.

In 2013, we co-organised a sixth-form conference and Shakespeare study day for pupils from local schools. This event ran in partnership with the RSC and Theatre Royal, Newcastle.

In 2012, Professor Peter Reynolds held a conference entitled 'Re-making Shakespeare'. It was part of the 2012 World Shakespeare Festival, in collaboration with both the RSC and Northern Stage.

It focused on contemporary Shakespeare production in the UK and internationally. The conference featured presentations from:

  • Ralph Cohen from the American Shakespeare Centre
  • Erica Whyman from Northern Stage/RSC
  • the writer and performer Tim Crouch
