I completed my PhD in 2011 and joined the School in 2012, having taught previously at Teesside University.

Research Interests

Victorian poetry, especially Hopkins and Barnes; Victorian literature and religion; dialect poetry; nonsense writing; modernist poetry.

Current Work

I am completing a book on Hopkins, which considers versions of religious experience in his poetry. I am also working on an article on the nonsense Edward Lear wrote in India in the 1870s.
