About Electron Microscopy Research Services
The microscopy equipment comprises:
- Transmission electron microscope (TEM) for visualisation of cellular ultrastructure with high resolution digital image capture.
- Scanning electron microscope (SEM) for high resolution surface imaging.
Both types of electron microscope require specialised preparative procedures.
Other equipment includes:
- Four ultramictrotomes
- Two cryo-ultramicrotomes
- Light microscope with digital imaging software for quantitative analysis
- Cryostat for frozen light microscopy work
In addition to the standard techniques, immunocytochemistry for TEM using either resin or frozen embedding techniques is available.
