Professor Nick Cowern: 'New Developments in Photovoltaics' (pdf, 1,792 KB)
10 March 2010
Global solar energy generation has grown exponentially for the last 30 years with an average doubling time of about 30 months and a tendency for this to accelerate. This phenomenal growth has resulted from a variety of drivers, including energy prices and security, cost scaling in manufacturing and numerous technical advances. Professor Cowern’s seminar looks at the next 30 years of exponential growth leading to a 'carbon-free' global economy and speculates on the scientific / technical advances that will contribute to this process.
